Meet the Team

Kevin McLoughlin (director)

Kevin retired from Greater Manchester Police in the rank of inspector. During his time with the Police Service, in common with many other officers, Kevin worked in many front line roles, most in quite demanding areas and in some decidedly dangerous situations as well as those of tedium and routine.

It was the ability and habit of having to learn quickly in a work environment of frequent changes to law, society and work skills which enabled Kevin to move forward starting his own business in 1999. As well as the miriad of specialist courses and management learning, the principal skills relevant to his current work type and style were mainly learned in his time in the research and development department and, more pertinently, as the officer in charge of planning for the policing of all events in Manchester City Centre.

After leaving the police service, Kevin has been able to draw on that learning and on his experiences on a frequent basis in the field of health and safety, specialising in live events. Not one to 'rest on his laurels,' since then, he has continued to attend many courses, seminars, gained new qualifications and (not least) has continued to chase new experiences, with some significant success.
He is now in a situation where he is himself a trainer in health and safety themed subjects and has also been called on from time to time to address event trade groups on the subject.

When not working, Kevin is a 'foodie' and loves trying out new recipes and style of dishes. He is an avid reader and continues to research his family history extensively. He can follow some branches of his family tree back to the 3rd century via a very lucky find, linking him to titled ancestors.

Jim Campbell (director)

Jim has had a wide and varied career, starting out with a spell in the British Armed Forces, where hazard perception and risk assessment figured prominently as a day to day priority in his work activities and duties.
Upon leaving, Jim joined a government agency, from where he managed a variety of customer focussed teams whose goals were to achieve the targets set by the government of the day.  It was during his time as a civil servant that Jim studied (successfully) for a Masters Degree in Business Administration. It was whilst studying that he became interested in the legal aspects of setting up and running businesses.  This inevitably led him to acquire an in-depth knowledge of the Health and Safety at Work Act and various other related legislation.
After gaining the Masters Degree, Jim went on to take further health and safety qualifications to become acredited to Nebosh Diploma Part 1 level in occupational health and safety.

Jim launched his own Health and Safety Consultancy in December 2004 and has since been helping a variety of businesses from many different sectors to achieve a better understanding and management of their health and safety duties. His knowledge and experiences has enabled him to become a Technician Member of the Institute of Safety and Health.

When not working, Jim is an avid military historian and likes to watch football (and occasionally play a little 5-a-side). He also enjoys playing badminton and golf.
