Competence standards for fire risk assessment ? - yes, we are competent

The Competency Council for Fire Risk Assessors is an open group which has emerged from the fire sector (involving fire services and other bodies). It has recently published a recommended list of essential skills for persons to be of a minimum level of competence in fire risk assessments. The 9 levels of competence are listed below.

  • the assessment of risk from fire
  • applicable legislation
  • appropriate guidance
  • behaviour of fire in buildings
  • behaviour of people in fire situations
  • means of escape
  • fire prevention
  • fire protection
  • management of fire safety
